Elect: Dave Menden
Scott County Commissioner

Dave Menden for Scott County Commissioner

My Promises:

~We must cut spending , reduce government and taxes.  I will not vote for a tax increase.  If a new project or program is presented to the board, we must eliminate another program or expense to pay for the new one, or the new program must be self sufficient.

~I believe our elected officials should set the example reducing payroll expenses.  I reduced my annual income by $10,000, and took a 3% cut in my salary beginning in 2012.  I agree to hold this payroll amount each year of my elected term, and will not accept a raise.

~I do not take a per diem, mileage, or any other benefits.  I believe our commissioners are generously paid for their elected positions and "bonus" per diem payments for meetings are not an effective use of our tax dollars. The current per diem for commissioners is $50 per meeting.

My Goals:

~Attempt to move the commissioner's meeting from Tuesday morning to an evening session, so more of the taxpayers have an opportunity to participate in the meetings.

~Extend the courthouse hours so our residents do not have to take off work to utilize court services.  This includes the Court System.   Over the years, many people have stated that they would love to have their day in court but just can't afford or are unable to take time off work to go to court.  They are forced to plead guilty or pay a fine even though they knew they were innocent.

~The county has approximately 120 supervisor positions. We have to continue to streamline government through attrition and restructuring, helping to reduce spending for taxpayers.
